19th International Youth Forum | Baku

“Spread the light, Save lives”

The 19th International Youth Forum of IFBDO/FIODS was held in Baku, Azerbaijan from August 21st to 25th, 2019. The event was attended by delegates from 11 countries, including Azerbaijan, Denmark, Georgia, Italy, Lebanon, Lithuania, Nepal, Norway, Holland, Portugal, and Romania, with a total of 60 participants. Onur Oguz Dellal, the Founding Director of APIDA e.V., served as a trainer at the forum, where he shared important features and tips of the Erasmus+ Program with volunteers and professionals working in the field of blood donation from different parts of the world.

Through interactive sessions and team activities, Onur facilitated non-formal learning opportunities for delegates to develop their skills in project management, problem-solving, and teamwork. His training sessions also shed light on global issues such as malnutrition in certain areas of the African continent.

The four-day forum kicked off with a traditional Market of Welcome, which allowed delegates to get to know each other better in an informal atmosphere. During the opening ceremony, each associative delegation presented its nation and transfusion system, highlighting the similarities and differences between the countries. The following days featured training lessons on project management, malnutrition in some areas of the African continent, and the funds for Erasmus+.

The delegates also had the opportunity to visit the Central Blood Bank of Azerbaijan, where they learned about the country’s blood donation process. The forum also included motivational team games and a visit to the Quba Genocide Museum, where delegates learned about the history of the country.

At the end of the forum, the IYC Board conducted elections for the renewal of offices and selected Nepal as the host country for the 20th International Youth Forum in August 2020. The Nepalese delegation shared their plans for the forum, which will be focused on youth volunteering and will be regularly updated by the IYC.

As an organization committed to promoting youth development and non-formal learning, APIDA e.V. is proud to have contributed to the success of the 19th International Youth Forum through the participation of Onur Oguz Dellal as a trainer. We believe that such events provide valuable opportunities for young people to broaden their horizons, gain new skills, and build meaningful connections with peers from different countries and cultures.
