“Planting Trees, Growing Futures: Youth for Forest II”
Youth for Forest II, hosted by APIDA e.V. in partnership with VSOW e.V. and Euromos Youth Association and funded by Deutsche-Türkische Jugendbrücke, took place from November 15-22, 2022, in the picturesque seaside village of Çökertme, Milas. The project brought together 16 participants from Germany and 10 participants from Turkey to address environment and climate issues, afforestation, and exchange good practices. One of the main highlights of the project was the opportunity to visit a recently burned forest area and participate in the afforestation effort. The project also included local community events such as olive picking and crushing, tree planting, meeting with decision makers, cultural and awareness activities, and workshops on environmental issues.
Partner organizations, EUROMOS Youth Association and VSOW e.V., collaborated to provide a diverse and meaningful experience for all participants. By promoting the importance of forests and environmental protection, Youth for Forest II aimed to inspire young people to take action and make a positive impact in their communities. Çökertme was chosen as the location for the project due to its natural beauty and the devastating forest fires that occurred in the area in 2021. The project aimed to support the local community in their afforestation efforts and raise awareness about the importance of preserving forests for future generations.
