Turkish and German Youth Dialogue on Gallipoli 1915
APIDA e.V. has started preparations for a new German–Turkish Erasmus+ project exploring the Gallipoli Campaign through the perspectives of shared history, memory and dialogue.
Developed together with our partners in Türkiye, the project brings young people, historians, researchers and experts from Germany and Türkiye together to explore a lesser-known dimension of Gallipoli: the German–Ottoman cooperation during the First World War and the experiences of German doctors, officers and other historical figures connected to the campaign.
The programme will take place in Berlin and Çanakkale and will include archive research, exhibitions, expert discussions, youth workshops, historical site visits and activities focusing on memory diplomacy and intercultural dialogue.
Rather than simply revisiting military history, the project aims to create a space where younger generations can examine different historical perspectives, discuss how collective memory is formed and explore how a difficult shared past can contribute to dialogue today.

We will involve young people from both Germany and Türkiye, particularly those with an interest in history, international relations, political science, cultural heritage and European dialogue.
